  •  "The crunch came in April this year when I tried on 8 pairs of jeans in my wardrobe and not one of them fit me."

I went into the bathroom and cried. I had hit rock bottom. I was weighing myself everyday and all that was doing was making me more and more depressed. I’m usually a very social, confident person and I noticed because I felt so bad about my appearance that I stopped socialising. That same day I said to myself I am the only one that can fix this.

  • This all started over the summer  holidays when my 12yr old daughter innocently pointed out that I now had ‘old ladies legs’ (you know the type, all lumpy and bumpy around the upper thigh).  Of course this is just the way it should be, after all I was fast approaching the elderly age of 47, I’d had four children, and 50 was just around the corner - isn’t that how we are supposed to look at this stage of life?

  • I decided to sign up for the NEW YOU 12 week challenge after reading an article in women's health and fitness magazine I found myself in awe of the transformations that were featured.

  • My story is like that of many other women, but with a twist. At 41 having had five children I wanted to get my figure back. I had always been lean and in fact underweight before my first two babies which meant the few kilos I retained after each pregnancy actually sat well on me.

  • I joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1996 at the age of 17, straight out of school. I was just under 5 foot tall (still am) and weighed 49kg. I had grown up on a farm with my small family. My Mum had brought my sister and I up eating great, healthy food. Most nights we had meat and three veggies. I didn’t know what it was like to have pizza delivered, we never had soft drink in the house and we only had dessert if ice cream happened to be on special.

  • Time to get healthy, happy and like me for me! After having three children (aged 5 years, 3 years and four months) in five years I was aching to get my body back in shape. Little did I realize that not only did I get leaner, fitter and stronger but I was happier, more confident and had masses of energy.

  • Since I first put on 10kgs as a teenager, I've been a chronic yo-yo dieter. I tried many weight loss programs. The regimes were always so restrictive that I was never able to maintain them. Even if I lost weight, eventually I became complacent, returning to my old eating habits & the weight would soon pile back on with interest. Finally after multiple failed attempts at losing weight, I fell into deep depression.

  • Right from my early 20’s, I had always been an avid fitness enthusiast.  For years I made a conscious effort to exercise most days of the week mainly focusing on cardio with some weights thrown in.  I saw Personal Trainers, acquired good strength, “thought” I was consuming the right sorts of foods and training pretty well.  I was just going through the motions but my results suffered and as a consequence I became frustrated day in and day out.

  • I was very unhappy within myself, no I actually despised myself. Its hard to explain, but for me it radiated through all aspects of my life. And its not that I ate junk food, believe me, the last 2 years, if you ask people, they will always say, she would never drink and “party”, and I trained... boy did I train!

  • I have struggled with my weight over the past 5 years. I have lost weight only to regain it again. Unfortunately each and every diet I tried would result in the weight loss, but the idea of incorporating that eating into the rest of my life was never a possibility and therefore I would go back to my old eating and regain the weight.

  • For years I have battled with weight and body image issues. I have lost weight, through really low calorie restricted diets and lots of cardio, and not a lot of weight training and have always put the weight back on through bingeing. My body has been in a state of starvation.

  • Well, it happened before I knew it. I was nearly 50, fat, flabby, frustrated and feeling awful. I had sabotaged my efforts to lose weight for years by constant yo-yo dieting, starving myself to the point of exhaustion and ill-health. At night I would arrive home after work and begin to eat so much that I couldn’t then eat the healthy meal I’d prepare for my family.

  • I used to be very active in my youth, being part of every sports team in school there was. But at 20 years of age I left my country to study in Australia and to pay for my studies I started to work in restaurants, where I discovered a love for food and wine and where I also met my husband.

  • The NEW YOU 12-Week Challenge is something I have been aware of for quite some time after seeing the ads and testimonials in some of the fitness publications I read such as Women’s Health and Fitness and Oxygen magazines. However, I always scoffed at the idea of online personal training thinking it was for gullible people who had reached such a point of desperation that they would part with their money for any old quick-fix and yet... those before and after shots were so compelling, especially on the IBO ad, that I kept being drawn to it and eventually went to the web site.

  • I recall that I was reasonably active as a youngster.  I played representative softball in primary school and representative netball in high school.  I remember choosing to do Primary School PE Teaching as work experience in grade 10.  I just always had an interest in fitness and sport.

  • Looking at my before photo, it was hard to believe that I once was a conditioned athlete and coach. The joy of competing in various sports gave me so much pleasure. All this abruptly changed when I became the mother of twins. A twelve hour labour followed by a C-section left me in shock.

  • Like too many others, my weight has been a problem from a very early age. When I reached 18, due to some happenings in my life, I decided to do something about it, so, slowly, started increasing my activity and modified my diet a little. Then, I came to Australia, and a new lifestyle, new opportunities did help me get to a very reasonable weight, for which I was happy (65 kg) but not satisfied.

  • For years I have battled with weight issues. I have lost weight but, never managed to tone and shape my body and have always let the weight creep back on again.

  • Hi all, I’ve just completed my 12 week challenge under the guidance of mentor guru – Karen Lewis - and she’s asked me to proffer a few motivational words.

  • I have received amazing reactions from all over the place!  My family live in Sydney, so I don’t get to see them that often, but they saw me at the stage I had lost around 20kg.  They were really happy that I had lost that much weight and told me I looked great.  I finally sent them some photos (only around a week ago) and they were completely speechless.

  • Approaching my 29th Birthday, being a wife and mother to my three beautiful daughters (9,7 and 4 years), I have never been one to put myself first.  Between the responsibilities of running a family, working part-time and studying, I had little time left for myself. I kept my goals in the back of my mind, things I would dream of achieving, but never seemed to have the will to reach them.

  • I was getting ready to go out with friends, wearing the only top I could find that hid my bloated belly, when my boyfriend asked me “Why are you wearing that? Isn’t that the kind of top fatter girls wear to hide their stomach?” That is when I realised I had stopped being the fit, confident person I used to be and had become the unhappy, unhealthy person who looked at me in the mirror each morning.

  • Coming from a background of sport and fitness, and coaching martial arts for a number of years, it was to my disappointment that I had become what I had feared most…a fat, frumpy, unfit and debilitated thirty-something.

  • I wasn’t always overweight, though I have been for a long time. When I was in high school, my eating habits were not great but I played a lot of sport and was quite active so I was always a healthy weight. That all stopped however, once I started uni and the active lifestyle came to a screeching halt with my eating habits remaining the same.

  • During 2008 I found myself really struggling. In fact it would have been appropriate to call me a ‘wreck’. My life felt overwhelming and exhausting and I was no-longer coping. I was at the point of requiring medication for anxiety and depression.

  • I have always had issues with my body. Ever since I was a teenager, I have continuously struggled with attaining my ideal body shape. I have always had skinny legs, so could get away with wearing baggy tops to hide my tummy.

  • I had struggled to lose weight for quite a long time - 11 years in fact. I had tried pills, shakes, green tea, Xenical, circuit training without proper nutrition and other potions and lotions that I can't even remember the names of. I was desperate to look like the other women on the IBO website and thought that I could do it on my own.

  • I had decided at the beginning of 2008 that this was going to be the year to get my health and fitness back on track. I have always been a keen exerciser and ate okay but had trouble tying the two together.

  • Well I didn’t waste any time joining as I thought, this is it, this is what I’ve been trying to do for years.  I’d had personal trainers in the past but they only guide you in the exercise area.  They didn’t really follow my eating plan.  I’d always been fairly slim and exercised regularly but somehow in recent years I have had a tummy and got tired of people asking if I was pregnant.

  • A series of unfortunate events that spanned a couple of years and found me extremely unhappy, out of shape and in desperate need of change, was the catalyst for me to begin a program with Ideal Bodies Online.

  • I was pretty fit around 40-42 years old. I was doing novice triathlons, running and swimming regularly with a group and feeling in pretty good shape. After I separated from my husband of 17 years 3.5 years ago (age 42), my life had an enormous turn around.

  • I am 43 years of age, married and have two small children who are 4 and 5 years of age. I work part time, and also run my own small business. My sister and I decided to do the 12 week body blitz competition mid August.  We were both feeling very unhappy with our level of fitness and our physical appearance and for me it was starting to impact on my emotional well being.

  • My personal fitness journey started some 12 months ago. My weight had increased to an all time high, and my confidence and self esteem was rock bottom. I had begun a cycle of eating out regularly, enjoying my new relationship, drinking far too much, and using food as medication for a stressful and busy lifestyle. Working 24 hour shifts in a children’s home was taking its toll and I was constantly feeling tired and exhausted.

  • I didn’t want to go through another winter in Melbourne putting on 10+ kilos of weight and having to spend most of summer trying to lose it. With a holiday planed for Thailand in October, there wouldn’t be much time to get into shape either. This winter was going to be different.

  • I was approaching my 30th birthday and it occurred to me that for more than half my life I had been “on a diet”.  As a teenager I developed disordered eating patterns which carried through with me for 17 years.  Ever since I can remember I’ve been on and off diets and lost, then gained significant amounts of weight.

  • Being a Personal Trainer I was great at motivating and helping others to achieve their health and fitness goals, but somewhere along the way I forgot to set some goals for myself.

  • I am 36 years old, I have two children, and a wonderful husband who has supported me through out the last 12 weeks of my weight loss challenge. Only twelve weeks ago, I was at my heaviest weight ever. I was starting to feel very tired, unhealthy and unattractive.

  • For years I have read the fitness magazines with the success stories and dreamt of having that commitment and discipline to complete a 12 week challenge.

  • I never believed that not only would I stick and follow the 12 week challenge, but that I would “win” in so many ways.

  • After returning from a lovely family holiday on the Gold Coast, my weight crept up to the highest ever! I felt extremely uncomfortable, out of control and unhappy.  My clothes were not fitting and I did not want to go out and buy new ones in a larger size!

  • I decided to become involved in the Ideal Bodies Online NEW YOU 12 week challenge after realizing that all my clothes were feeling tight and that I was walking around with a jumper tied around my waist to hide the muffins that were hanging over the top of my pants

  • I’d spent most of my life being overweight, until 6 years ago I “discovered” sport 6 years ago. This did wonders for my figure and it fast became a favourite pastime. My eating, though, had lots of room for improvement.

  • On my usual trip to the local milk bar to get the paper I decided to buy an issue of Australian Ironman (Fighting Fat). In the magazine I came across the article by Sue Heintze “Training your body and mind”. The article struck a chord with me, especially one sentence: - “the twelve weeks will pass anyway”.  Of course they would, thirty nine years have passed and I had not achieved all I was capable of.

  • For years I have been unhappy with my weight and every time I complained about it, I’d get the “oh, but you carry it so well” reply. In January 2006, I weighed in at 83.9kg and wore a size 14-16.  I wasn’t overly big just unhappy with how I looked.

  • I have always known the benefits of regular exercise and had always done some form of exercise to keep the mind and body in shape, but over the past couple of years a couple of kilos crept on and a couple more and so on. Before I knew, it 10 kilos had found their way to my lethargic body.

  • I was sick of myself and the way I looked and the fact that my 50th birthday was coming up in November made the decision to enter the challenge an easy one.

  • Having spent a large portion of 2004 travelling for work, followed by an extremely indulgent Christmas and holiday season, my weight had ballooned to the highest ever. My body fat was 25%!! I had never felt so ashamed of myself, or so out of control.

  • Prior to starting my journey I was always an avid reader of fitness magazines. Gazing at the women's physiques and thinking 'I want to look like that' as I sat there eating my chocolate or biscuit until the packet was finished! Convincing myself I would start on Monday. I always did start on Monday, I also always fell off the wagon once a sweet temptation passed my eyes!

  • Kelli Howden's fitness adventure started four months after she gave up smoking for good. Kelli was no longer lighting up a cigarette instead of having a healthy lunch and slowly the weight started to creep on.

  • After spending an entire winter, cooped up inside, unwilling to exercise outdoors as my asthma and breathing was so bad, I became increasingly unfit and unhealthy. I felt lethargic, unmotivated to exercise (which was unusual as I had competed in triathlons several years earlier) and very uncomfortable with my body

  • To say that the 12 Week Challenge was the best thing I have ever done would probably be an understatement. I decided to take on the Body Blitz Challenge to see if I could not only transform my body but also more importantly transform my health, well-being and attitude.  So for me this challenge was not only an external transformation but also an internal one.

  • Your 40s are all about being comfortable in your own skin, being kind to yourself and having the inner onfidence to know that it’s never too late to achieve beyond your wildest expectations.
